HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs, Inc. was organized in 1934, with representatives from eight local area garden clubs. The Council has continued to grow and prosper consisting now of 12 garden clubs and plant societies with over 400 members.

The Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs and the Garden Center's purpose is to unite the Garden Clubs of Roanoke and vicinity, to foster Garden Club events, sponsor educational programs of valley wide interest, encourage civic beautification, and operate the Garden Center.

In 1960, the Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs was established as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization and as such welcome your generous contributions, whether individually or corporate sponsorship.

The Garden Center is open Monday through Friday 9 am-12 noon (Please call ahead for rental appointments). General Membership meetings are held the 3rd Monday of the month with a program at 10:30 am, followed by a membership meeting excluding July, August, and December.  Visitors are always welcome. WANT TO RENT OUR BUILDING FOR YOUR SPECIAL EVENT?
